What role are you playing?

I’m playing several roles in both shows which means I have a wide range of character styles and dialogue.

What sort of person is going to love your character?

The people who are going to love my characters are those who have seen me on stage as a singer rather than a voice actor.

Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue?

My favorite line of dialogue is “SHUT UP!”

Besides yourself, which actor in this production is going to blow people away?

I think the actor besides myself who will blow people away is Olivia McCurley.  She transforms from a young lady to an elderly grandmother in the same dialogue.

When did you first perform?

I first started performing when I was around 5 or 6 at the local grocery store in my small home town in Arkansas.  The grocer would give me a quarter and candy if I would stand on a stool and sing “Long Tall Texan”.

What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?

When I’m not doing theater I can be found around Marietta mostly preaching and singing at funerals. I know it sounds rather morbid, but it is a ministry in itself.

What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage / the curtain goes up?

The last thing I do before the curtain comes up is tell myself “This is your time”.

Besides this one, what upcoming Strand show are you most excited about?

I can be seen  singing in Strand Ole Opry’s King of the Road in June, the Georgia Players Guild’s Eagles/Alabama concert in September, Strand Ole Opry’s O Brother Where Art Thou in October, and Strand Ole Opry’s Country Christmas in December.

Barry can also be seen as Burl Sanders in The Strand’s production of Smoke on the Mountain in September.
