Alexander McCurley
What role are you playing?
Like the rest of us in the show, I’ve got a few characters popping up throughout the night. My most prominent role is Frank Butler.
What sort of person is going to love your character?
I believe that Frank Butler is the kind of guy for anyone who’s ever tried to put on a show and anybody who knows how to win at losing. Also, my mom.
Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue?
Bill: “Go to her ma’am, I’ll stay here and fling the lead!”
Besides yourself, which actor in this production is going to blow people away?
All bias aside, my sister, Olivia, is likely to steal the show in The Lone Ranger.
When did you first perform?
Ever? I first remember performing in church productions in elementary school. I played a great camel and an even better bull. I specialized in portraying animals back then.
What do you do when you’re not doing theatre?
I’m in a band called The Black Coffee Boys. I also enjoy screenwriting and filmmaking in general.
What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage / the curtain goes up?
I like to do a push-up circle with any able and willing cast mates just before leaving the dressing room.
Besides this one, what upcoming Strand show are you most excited about?
I’m always looking forward to emceeing the next installment of Strand Ole Opry.
