Ushering at The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre is a wonderful way to expand your horizons and connect to the arts. You’ll meet exciting new people, serve a community nonprofit, and have countless opportunities to make a difference. You’ll experience movies, concerts, musicals, and more!

What Does An Usher Do?

Our ushers are our principle hospitality and service team. They do the following and more:

1. Greet patrons
2. Take tickets
3. Assist with seating
4. Answer questions
5. Create a welcoming atmosphere

When Do They Do It?

Most of our shows, movies and events occur on the weekends (Friday-Sunday). Occasionally, we will have events needing ushers on a weekday. Event times are typically in the evening, though we do have matinee showings for certain shows in the afternoon.

Ushers are expected to arrive 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to show time and to remain until after intermission.
