Partners in education the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre and West Side Elementary School are pleased to announce Lydia Grant and Catherine Moulton as the new directors of the West Side Drama Club program.
Lydia and Catherine bring decades of arts education experience to the popular after school drama program, set to resume in 2021 after the pandemic caused its postponement in 2020.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Catherine and Lydia on board to direct the drama club this year,” says Andy Gaines, General Manager of The Strand.
“The drama club partnership between The Strand and West Side has been an incredible gift to so many students for years, and we’re always looking to make the program the best it can be for the students.
I’ve seen firsthand the effect that Catherine and Lydia’s remarkable talent, experience, and creative leadership has on students — there’s no doubt they’re going to do great things with this program. I can’t wait for the kids to get started with them.”
Created by The Strand in partnership with West Side Elementary in 2009, the West Side Drama Club after-school program focuses on teaching students cooperation, leadership, and self-confidence through theatrical training and performance. The drama program serves first through fifth grade students and culminates with a theatrical performance on The Strand stage.
Lydia Grant is the current general music educator and choral director at West Side Elementary School with Marietta City Schools. She has been teaching music in public schools since 2012 and has been at West Side for seven years.
