October Halloween Movies and Concerts at The Strand

MARIETTA, GA (October 1, 2014) – If you’re like us, you spend the first few weeks of fall painstakingly planning to fill Scary Movie Month (or October, as it’s less commonly known) with the best horror flicks ever made. This year, take the show on the road and make The Strand a stop on your terrifying tour of film history, and top off October in style with a groovy Halloween concert. Trick or treat yourself!

The Birds (Friday, October 24 @ 8PM) Movie Screening – This classic Hitchcock horror starring Tippi Hedren comes to The Strand this Halloween season. Just when you thought you were over your crippling ornithophobia, The Strand brings you back to the town that slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people in increasing numbers and with increasing viciousness. Live organ spooky pops variety show and sing-along at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for students, seniors, and military.

The Shining (Saturday, October 25 @ 8PM) Movie Screening – Stanley Kubrick’s interpretation of the Stephen King classic is guaranteed to scare even the most seasoned of horror movie lovers. Released in 1980, The Shining stars Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance, a writer and recovering alcoholic who takes a job as an off-season caretaker at the ominously isolated Overlook Hotel. What could possibly go wrong? Make sure to bring that one friend who thinks that movies made last century can’t be that scary. Live organ spooky pops variety show and sing-along at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for students, seniors, and military.

The Cat and the Canary (Sunday, October 26 @ 3PM) Silent Film –  In this 1927 silent horror film, a decaying mansion looms over a pack of greedy relatives gathered for the reading of a twenty year old will. But before the West fortune can be handed down, the family must endure a night of mystery and chaos in the cavernous manor. Oh, and did we mention that an escaped lunatic is a large? The Cat and the Canary is a milestone of the American horror film and the one that set the stage for the famous Universal horror films of the 1930’s. The Cat and the Canary will be accompanied live by Strand Organist Ron Carter on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ. Live organ spooky pops variety show and sing-along at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10 for adults and $9 for seniors, students, and military.

Yacht Rock Schooner Disco Halloween! (Friday, October 31 @ 9PM) Concert – Can’t decide which Bee Gee you should be for Halloween this year? Yacht Rock Schooner would never make you choose. The boys are back to rock your Halloween in style with the Schooner’s Disco Halloween! Come in your best 70’s gear (or rock that Ruth Bader Ginsberg costume you’ve been working on for months, we won’t judge) and get down with your bad self. The Strand will be pulling out all the stops this Halloween and Yacht Rockers will have full reign of all three floors of The Strand, each of which will be host to its very own bar. Yacht Rock Schooner has a history of selling out The Strand, so be sure to grab your tickets early for this one! Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 the day of the show.
