Blair Crimmins and the Hookers Bringing Back Old Town Jazz to the Strand

(February 14, 2012) — For the past two years, Marietta has loved to dance and jive with Blair Crimmins and his backing band of merry men lovingly referred to as The Hookers. Back by demand, Blair Crimmins and the Hookers are bringing new tunes to Earl Smith Strand Theatre to kick off The Strand’s 2012 Music Series.

Blair Crimmins and the Hookers have quickly become one of Atlanta’s favorite bands to count on for a night of old fashioned fun and speakeasy reminiscent debauchery. While they blend the gritty ragtime with ‘20s and’30s swing, they have a sound that does not fit comfortably into a genre. Their retro uniqueness is topped off by contemporary style and lyrics that fans of any age can enjoy.

Crimmins plays a large range of instruments: piano, banjo, ukulele, organ, percussion, and more. While it seems that Crimmins could run a one-man show, his Hookers are equally talented. Blair Crimmins’ Hookers are a group of six musicians who provide accompaniment through upright bass, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, drums, and piano.

The concert is all ages. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the event. On sale now.
