Marietta, Ga. (August 7, 2014) —On September 7, 2014 the Earl Smith Strand Theatre will be awash with sizzling sounds, the clang of pans, and possibly the scent of a culinary setback or two. Roasted: A Celebrity “Food Fight” Fundraiser, benefitting the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation and The Strand, is a cooking competition between public figures of Marietta to decide who will go home the champ and who will go home roasted.
Guests of the event will be greeted with h’orderves prepared by the Chattahoochee Technical College Culinary Program and will then gather in the auditorium to watch the competition unfold live on The Strand stage.
The show will feature four teams consisting of a chef and sous chef: Mayor Steve Tumlin (City of Marietta) with Kim Gresh (President, SA White Oil Co); Chairman Tim Lee (Chairman, Cobb Commissioners) with Elaine Armster (Special Projects Chief, GDOT); Attorney General Sam Olens (State of Georgia) with Shan Cooper (VP, Lockheed Martin); and Mayor Max Bacon (City of Smyrna) with Faye DiMassimo (Director, Cobb DOT).
Johnnie Gabriel, of Gabriel’s bakery and restaurant in Marietta, Ga, will be hosting the event. With the help of two randomly selected audience members, Gabriel will judge the finished dishes. Chef Hillary Gallagher of Chattahoochee Tech and her team of culinary students will be keeping a close eye on the competitors to ensure the historic theatre stays intact.
“We are so excited to host such a unique event here at The Strand,” says Cassi Costoulas, general manager of The Strand Theatre, “this will be a very fun and entertaining evening, and we can’t wait to see what our ‘celebrity chefs’ create.”
Silent Auction will take place in lobby prior to the show. Tickets are $45 and include assigned seating and h’orderves. To purchase tickets or learn more about the event, visit:www.earlsmithstrand.org
