Lumiere Lounge

Open Wednesday – Saturday  7 PM – 11 PM | 21+

As you sink into a plush couch or join a friend at a café table, the modern world seems to drift away as classic silent films quietly flicker in the background while a live pianist plays. The Lumière Lounge is a mini-venue inside of The Strand, featuring live entertainment Wednesdays through Saturdays. The Lumière Lounge’s bar offers patrons handcrafted libations made with local Hometown Honey as well as the classic bar fare.  The Lumière Lounge’s much-lauded specialty cocktail menu and live pianist on Friday and Saturday nights create a perfectly intimate setting for a date night cocktail.

The Strand was proud to introduce this popular silent film inspired cocktail lounge and venue in November of 2014.

Specialty Nights:

Wednesday Nights Show Up Go Up: Open Mic Comedy

Come by on Wednesday nights to enjoy The Strand’s open mic comedy night: Show Up Go Up. Rik Wayne hosts this popular avenue for local comedians to try new material and connect. Comedians only have to show up to go up, no audition or screening required. Due to the off-the-cuff nature of comedy, this event is 21+ to participate and attend, no exceptions.

First Thursdays Live at Lumiere: Open Mic Music

The Live at Lumiere: Open Mic Night is hosted by Chad Yochum and Travis Cottle, regulars in the Marietta music scene who are excited to foster a space for local musicians to play and connect. This is the only open mic night around that is set up with a warm studio sound rather than your typical live PA sound. Whether you like to sing, play music, or just prefer to drink delicious cocktails while listening to great local acts, come to Live at Lumiere: Open Mic Night. Free entry, free to play, covers accepted. CDs of recorded sets are $5 per song (original material only).

Second Thursdays Sip & Play: Game Night

Scenario: You’re sitting in your living room with four of your best buds (plus Dan), playing your favorite board game. You’re sweating, because you just realized that the guy sitting next to you is probably a werewolf (in the game, that is – less likely in real life, but you’re not ruling anything out at this point because it’s been a weird year), and definitely just saw your cards. You really want another beer, but you reach over and see nothing but empties. A possibly cheating werewolf is breathing down your neck, Dan invited himself over again, and you’re all out of beer. What do you do?

Answer: You UPGRADE YOUR LOCATION. Pack up that board game and bring the posse over to Lumiere. Sit back, let our bartenders mix you up a killer cocktail or pop you a cold one, and settle in for a night of gaming your heart out — all without having to leave one of Lumiere’s comfy couches.

Don’t feel like bringing your own game? We’ve got you covered with a bunch of board and card games to choose from. Come, hang, game.

Featured event: The General Adventure
This is the Big Kahuna experience of game night. Ever wanted to be fully immersed in your D&D experience? This right here is your chance. It’s a one shot Dungeons and Dragons game played each week with live piano accompaniment – silent film style. Creeping into a pitch black cave (that may or may not be filled with goblins) with one flaming arrow that’s about to putter out? DUN DUN DUN. The pianist becomes part of the game as he follows you through your adventure, lending a soundtrack to all of your victories – and all of your pitfalls. Newbies and experienced alike can enjoy and play. The game is new each week, so drop ins are encouraged.

$10 to play. Starts at 7:15pm. Registration will open the Monday before each game. Only 6 spots available per evening.

**The General Adventure D&D game starts at 7:15pm sharp. At 7:15pm, in the event of a no-show, names from the waiting list will begin to be called up to the table and no-shows will not be issued a refund. No exceptions.**

Third Thursdays Art After Dark

Have you ever wished you had a supportive group of artists around to share ideas with, spend time making art with, and – most importantly – motivate you to get up off of your couch and MAKE SOMETHING? Us too. Which is why we love Art After Dark on the third Thursday of the month – a space for visual artists to gather together, bring what they’re working on, and share a few hours together communing, sharing, drinking, and creating.

We encourage artists to bring whatever they feel like working on – maybe you have a piece that you’ve been working on a while and can’t get unstuck on, or maybe you want to start something brand new. Don’t have anything you’re working on? We’ll have monthly themes for those who want some inspiration. Bring on the paints, the easels, the charcoals, the sketchbooks, the watercolors, the tablets – and if you’re not an artist but you still want to spend time with us, we’ve got you covered with adult coloring books and colored pencils and pens to zen out with.

Remember to respect the space, and bring appropriate drop materials if your paints get messy. Hosted by Justin Simmons.

Fourth Thursdays Lumiere Lounge

Lumiere is open on the fourth Thursdays (and fifth, when applicable) as the classic piano lounge with a live pianist and specialty cocktails.
