Ways to support The Earl Smith Strand Theatre

Sitting proudly, yet unassumingly on the Marietta Square, The Earl Smith Strand Theatre has been restored thanks to a generous community that has nostalgic connections to this beloved cultural gem. Restoration of The Strand has been a true community effort, and since its re-opening in 2009, musicals, classic films, concerts, and educational offerings have all graced The Strand’s stage, drawing audiences as varied as the theatre’s Cobb County home.

Gifts to the Annual Fund address the most pressing day-to-day needs of the theatre, and gifts of all sizes make a difference! Without the Annual Fund, The Strand would not be able to support the many functions which benefit the theatre’s home – both as a physical entity and as a place for varied art forms to perform and engage with the Cobb community at large. More specifically, this support funds shows, allows repairs to be made to the historic building, and covers basic costs such as lighting and air.

Though the theatre has been raised and restored, The Strand still seeks Capital Support, through the Patron Pearls Campaign, to pay off a $2 million short-term loan that was needed to complete the project. In response to a generous matching gift pledge, The Strand has launched a targeted gift effort to identify 150 donors who will commit $1,000 annually for five years. Procurement of these funds will allow The Strand to claim a $750,000 challenge grant and close out the capital campaign for good.

Both of these opportunities to support The Earl Smith Strand Theatre are critical, and we invite you to consider making a contribution to both endeavors. We are continually blown away by the resounding support that we have received, and are so grateful for a community that has rallied behind our restoration efforts.

The Friends of The Strand, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization and gifts are tax deductible. All funds generated for the Patron Pearls Campaign are paid toward the loan which was used for construction, furnishings, equipment, and start-up operations for the Strand Theatre; funds generated for the Annual Fund are used for high-priority areas of the Theatre, as identified by staff and approved by the Board of Directors.
